This position is located at the LSC-System Office, University Park location at 20515 SH 249 (SH 249 and Louetta Road) Houston, Texas 77070-2607 Position Summary: Provides technical analysis, design, installation, maintenance and modification of broad/complex computer systems and security platforms. Responsible for the design and development of IT systems—developing design and functional specifications, producing deliverables related to the project(s) assigned and assisting in post implementation support and system enhancements. Responsible for gathering, compiling and synthesizing information with regard to technology processes or systems. A member of a 24/7/365 global department with travel within the LSCS service area and the availability of on-call scheduling. Job Functions: Assists with and supports the Document Management System and all integrated components by ensuring optimal utilization. These include: ERP applications, interfaces, databases, drivers, middleware, network connectivity, drivers, plus OS and software installation May supervise other IT staff that support college-wide systems and applications Maintains and modifies complex systems and/or designs and develops integrated subsystems Manages application software, application infrastructure and third party application environments, and ensures security integration connectivity Performs problem analysis to resolve system or application issues. Performs complex diagnosis of problems, providing solutions within area of responsibility, and/or through consulting with other technical staff Works closely with end users to identify problems and work with development team to provide solutions in accordance with established service level agreements and operational business standards Educates end users to ensure efficient and effective use of application/system by providing regular and on Demand training opportunities Designs, writes, tests, implements, and maintains software, including tools for testing and delivery of distributed applications Provides project leadership and supervision, directing and integrating the work of other analysts and technical personnel Develops and manages internal procedures, tools, and documents to provide a high level of application integrity and availability Plans systems development work in response to planned changes in infrastructure and vendor application support Stays current with technological developments in systems and application support, best practices for system security and availability Coordinates the review and testing of new application releases and updates, evaluating new functionality and managing changes for new features with the local systems Assists with the application of patches, installing software, managing the application and database environment, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting alerts Maintains tasks, projects and activities in the IT system of Record (S-NOW) Responsible for other reasonable, related duties assigned Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Full working knowledge of job responsibilities, procedures, practices; with advanced training in professional field Ability to help others in clarifying somewhat complex problems; adapts or modifies established approaches Identifies and selects appropriate tools, data, and analysis techniques to diagnose problems and develop solutions Actively seeks help in gathering resources, solicits input, and uses a variety of techniques to reach a solution Ability to lead groups through process of problem solving, soliciting ideas and opinions to form recommendations or action plans Ability to translate technical or procedural information into specifications or action plans Ability to convey technical or complex information to others in non- technical terms Ability to make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity Ability to establish and lead project timelines or short-term goals May have formal supervisory and/or coaching responsibility in a work unit Ability to motivate others towards completion of tasks and assignments Demonstrated ability to help others to think through alternatives and choices Ability to seek opportunities and sets some goals for own development Knowledge that work significantly affects multiple units within a single department.
