PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Coordinator I, Student Success First Year Experience facilitates daily operations within assigned area. Assists with ensuring smooth and efficient operations related to the support of the First Year Experience (FYE) program at Lone Star College. Responsible for coordination of support functions such as scheduling, communications, workflows, supplies, information processing, and staff support. Makes and communicates business process decisions based on best practices. Within Student Success the incumbent will work with appropriate departments to promote the college through functions and activities within the First Year Experience program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate daily operations of the FYE department and provides support to campus departments. Maintain current knowledge base of FYE department and acts as a point of contact for internal and external customers
Submits a variety of department reports and maintains documentation utilizing data from programs such as PeopleSoft and PowerBI
May make presentations at various levels both internally and externally
May assist with maintaining state and college compliance of processes and documentation
Assists with developing and maintaining training and professional development for FYE areas. Schedules and prioritizes work activities and organizes training materials
Assists with evaluation of programs and making recommendations for process and procedure revisions. Assist with development of new programs.
Coordinates various department and management calendars and schedules. Assists with planning, schedules and coordinates various meetings/seminars/events, including site selection and preparation, marketing and training materials, and general support
May monitor and maintain website for department and external use
Takes part in special projects as needed
Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong attention to accuracy and detail
Knowledge of the functions of various student services areas within a higher education institution
Excellent knowledge of general office and software applications
Ability to prepare and analyze reports
Possesses good organizational skills
Ability to prioritize duties
High level of customer service
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree or higher and at least 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
