PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Executive Assistant to the President manages the Office of the President and serves as the initial point of contact for the President of an LSC Campus. Assumes responsibility without direct supervision, exercises initiative and sound judgment, and makes decisions within the scope of assigned authority. Organizes the office and creates an atmosphere that permits the President to devote the optimum time, attention and focus on activities that best benefit the College. The Executive Assistant must be creative and enjoy working within an environment that is mission-driven, results-driven and community oriented. The Executive Assistant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the President including: managing an extremely active calendar of appointments; completing expense reports; composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings
Plans, coordinates and ensures the President's schedule is followed and respected; provides "gatekeeper" and "gateway" role, creating win-win situations for direct access to the President's time and office
Communicates directly, and on behalf of the President, internally and externally on matters related to Campus initiatives
Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the President, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature; determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response
Provides a bridge for smooth communication between the President's office and internal constituents, demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust and support
Works closely and effectively with the President to keep well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately
Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting letters, correspondence, and other tasks that facilitate the President
Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures
Monitors budget expenditures for the Office of the President
Plans and manages a variety of special events
Responsible for other reasonably related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
