Job Description
The Summer Intern, Land Use position is a 10-week paid internship program scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns will work full-time on exciting projects in the Land Use Department, participate in training programs, and network with other interns. The position is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students interested in environmental science, public policy, real estate, urban affairs, or urban planning.

Requirements

  • Perform site due diligence, including zoning analysis and development potential scenario planning
  • Support in project management, including drafting and review of environmental review and land use related documents, and creating maps and visuals to communicate technical planning information
  • Participate in discussions with interagency partners on land use and environmental review processes and issues
  • Assist in the Land Use Department’s efforts to synthesize and communicate city planning processes to internal stakeholders through creation of background documents and presentations
  • Inventory and track environmental review mitigation requirements for City projects
  • Gain exposure to complex, interdisciplinary planning projects and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Land Use Department
