Job Description
Legal Aid Chicago provides free civil legal assistance to low-income individuals in Chicago. They seek a full-time Supervisory Attorney to represent clients in Social Security Administration and Illinois Department of Human Services benefit cases, focusing on federal court as well as state court advocacy. The position requires collaboration with other staff and community outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Maintain a caseload of individual cases representing clients before the Social Security Administration and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
  • Supervise attorneys and other staff in the Public Benefits Practice Group.
  • Engage in systemic advocacy designed to have a lasting, measurable effect on the client community.
  • Work with External Relations to administer and report on grants.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, staff, interns, and volunteers.
