RESPONSIBILITIES
Position Overview
The VP, HR Technology Consultant is responsible for building and managing a consulting practice focused on helping small and mid-market employers evaluate, select, implement, and optimize their human resources technology platforms. This is a player-coach role that requires immediate individual contribution while building toward leading a team within the next 2-3 years. This role combines business development, consultative selling, and hands-on delivery to generate revenue through direct consulting engagements while supporting our insurance brokerage teams in winning and retaining client relationships.
Lead the creation and execution of a business development strategy to generate new HR technology consulting engagements, driving $1M+ in first-year revenue. Build a strong pipeline through networking, cross-selling with internal partners, and presenting solutions to executive decision-makers
Conduct HR technology assessments, lead vendor selections, manage implementations, and oversee change management and optimization initiatives across HCM, payroll, benefits, and related platforms. Serve as a trusted advisor on compliance, integrations, and HR tech trends
Establish scalable service offerings, methodologies, and quality standards for a growing consulting practice. Recruit and mentor team members, develop marketing and thought leadership materials, and track performance across revenue, delivery, and client satisfaction
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred MBA or bachelor’s degree with related experience
CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) certification required
10+ years of experience in HR technology consulting, HRIS implementation, benefits technology, or related fields with proven track record of building or leading consulting teams
Previous experience in a player-coach or leadership capacity, managing direct reports while maintaining individual client responsibilities
Strong business development and consultative selling success, deep knowledge of benefits administration and HCM/HRIS systems, and experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder technology implementations
Experience working within an insurance brokerage, employee benefits consulting firm, or benefits TPA in a consulting or leadership capacity

Salary range is $175K to 225K per year, depending on experience.
