This position is an Excepted Service position and a successful candidate in this position will provide legal advice on a broad range of valuable intellectual property rights such as patents, technical data, trade secrets, licenses, copyrights and trademarks, which arise through DOE activities and provide protection of government and taxpayer interests. As a full performance level, GS-14, Patent Attorney, you will:Assist in the protection of DOE and taxpayer interests in all intellectual property and technology transfer matters, including the review, negotiation and approval of technology transfer agreements such as Strategic Partnership Projects (SPPs), Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), User Agreements, Agreements for Commercializing Technology (ACT) and Technical Service arrangements. Provide counsel on all matters relating to Intellectual Property, including, but not limited to, inventions, patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and trademark matters, including preparing amendments to patent applications filed in the United States Patent Office (USPTO). Review proposals and proposed statements of work to ascertain appropriate intellectual property provisions for inclusion in any resulting contract. Monitor Government-sponsored research and development activities for the identification of inventions, potential outside claims for compensation. Provide advice and assistance on all matters relating to invention management, preparing patent applications on inventions in various fields of engineering and science, and preparing amendments to patent applications filed in USPTO.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Occasional travel may be required to attending training, meetings and/or conferences.
