Job Description

We are currently recruiting for 1- FULL TIME Registered Nurse- ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER- VN-610, for the Community Living Center in the Extended Care Program.

Tour of Duty: Nights- 11:30pm-8am Mon-Fri Alternating weekends and holidays
Bargaining Unit: No
Grade and Salary Will be determined by the Nurses Professional Standards Board for new appointees. Current RN employees will be reassigned at their current grade and step.
Basic Requirements: (1) Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (2) Graduation from School of Nursing (a) Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State [ ] agency [, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies] at the time the program was completed by the applicant: 1. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), an accrediting arm of the National League for Nursing located at 61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, New York 10006 or 2. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). (c) In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration and the possession of a Certificate from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. (3) Registration a) Condition of Employment. A registered nurse (RN) will have a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The RN must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA. (4) Physical Standards. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. (5) English Language Proficiency. RNs appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Preferred Qualifications: Long Term Care Experience, Experience with geriatric population, Med/Surg Experience, ICU experience, 2 years of experience in a Nurse Supervisory role
The Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee clinical practice in the community living center with the goal of improving care quality and processes on the off tours. He/she will also: Support Care Team Manager in certain administrative and planning activities. Identify needs for staff education through unit rounds. Conduct initial informal review of patient complaints and/or incidents. Perform chart reviews and care planning activities. Responsible for continuous readiness, accreditation, peer review, performance measures data collection and reporting. Evaluate the appropriateness and quality of nursing practice in the areas of clinical specialty. All other projects assisted by Care Team Manager. NOTE: There is a 2 year Probationary period for newly appointed Nurse supervisors.
