Job Description

We are currently recruiting for 2- FULL TIME Registered Nurses-VN-610, for the Community Living Center in the Extended Care Program.

1st Area of consideration: Current Permanent James J. Peters VAMC Employees
2nd Area of consideration: Current Permanent VA Employees
3rd Area of consideration: US Citizens

Tour of Duty:
1-RN- Day Shift 7am-7:30pm
1-RN-Night Shift- 7pm- 7am, 3 days a week and 1 week is 4 days (includes the 8hr short day) with alternating weekend and holidays

Bargaining Unit: Yes

Grade and Salary: Will be determined by the Nurses Professional Standards Board for new appointees. Current RN employees will be reassigned at their current grade and step.

Basic Requirements:
(1) Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.
(2) Graduation from School of Nursing (a) Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State [ ] agency [, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies] at the time the program was completed by the applicant: 1. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), an accrediting arm of the National League for Nursing located at 61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, New York 10006 or 2. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). (c) In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration and the possession of a Certificate from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
(3) Registration a) Condition of Employment. A registered nurse (RN) will have a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The RN must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA.
(4) Physical Standards. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019.
(5) English Language Proficiency. RNs appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Preferred Qualifications: Long Term Care Experience, Experience with geriatric population, Med/Surg Experience.

The CLC RN is responsible to clinical practice and oversight of the unit and staff of RN, LPN, NA/PCAs. Ensures goals of care for patients are met. Collaborates with all members of interdisciplinary team in ensuring patient safety, treatments and care according to clinical care standards. Reports to Care Team Manager and ANM during WHEN hours.
