Under direct supervision, performs standard administrative support duties. Activities are routine and may be repetitive. Provides and ensures a customer friendly environment.

This position is the primary initial contact and representative of the LSC, individual College, department or division to the public. The Switchboard/PBX Operator receives and responds to callers and walk-in guests, handling their questions and directing calls and queries as appropriate. May also be appointed to act as primary emergency response communications initiator as needed.
Answers in-coming phone calls and assists callers by responding to basic questions and forwarding calls to appropriate parties.
Directs walk-in visitors and students to their destination within Lone Star College System or campus.
Performs basic administrative support functions as requested, such as receiving and logging information, making copies, sorting and distributing mail, preparing basic correspondence or documents, answering routine questions, providing information and directions.
May compile, produces and maintain area phone directory.
May contact outside emergency organizations such as fire, EMS or police if an emergency is indicated.
Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Conditions:
PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment. Equipment usual and incidental to the pickup and delivery of mail, including mail machine and associated documents, carts, telephone and typewriter
Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards, as well as outdoors, with exposure to dust, dirt, etc.
