IWPR advances women’s status through social science research, policy analysis, and public education. POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Senior Director of Finance and Human Resources will be responsible for the development and implementation of IWPR’s financial management systems, strategies and goals. In addition to these components, the Senior Director will be charged with implementing more sophisticated systems, policies and procedures both in the finance and Human Resources with the goal of increasing efficiency, reduction in costs, and a mindset for supporting the successful operation of IWPR programs.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, detail-oriented manager with an entrepreneurial spirit and will lead efforts to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, and human resources management. They will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as IWPR grows its operations and seeks to attract top talent to fulfill its mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting;
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary;
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the President/CEO and the COO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status;
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting;
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system; ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements;
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department’s overall policy and procedure manual.
  • Oversee business license, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and other financial functions of IWPR;
  • Coordinate specified risk management activities, including the procurement of appropriate insurance coverage; and
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and Communications to align financial management with fundraising goals.
Human Resources
  • Manage IWPR’s recruitment and hiring policies and practices and work with senior staff to attract top talent;
  • Implement employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits; study and assess benefit needs and trends; recommend benefit programs to management; coordinate the processing of benefit claims; obtain and evaluate benefit contract bids; recommend and award benefit contracts; and deliver educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Draft, execute, and manage contracts with consultants and vendors.
  • Monitor and manage internal HR systems, processes, and databases
  • Update personnel policies and employee handbook
  • Develop and maintain consistent job titles and descriptions across the organization;
  • Provides counsel and direction to HR Staff, leaders, supervisors, and employees to address employment-related matters.
  • Maintain full compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations related to employment, employee relations, compensation and all other aspects of human resources.
  • Manage disciplinary and separation processes;
  • Develop on-boarding experience for new employees, explaining human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards; and
  • Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and processed.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Preferred or equivalent experience/expertise in one of the following fields: Business, Human Resource Management or related field.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, with progressive responsibility, and in leadership
  • In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent writing and communications skills, including presentation skills
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across the organization.
  • Effective, versatile, and action-oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and multiple priorities
  • High integrity and ability to hold confidentiality.
  • Strong emotional intelligence quotient, compassionate, self- aware, and the ability to skillfully manage own emotions and those of others.
This is an on-site, full-time exempt position. The salary for the Senior Director of Finance and Human Resources, IWPR is $115-140,000/year. IWPR also offers a competitive benefits package.
