The Head-Royce Lower School (grades K-5) is seeking a culturally responsive, dynamic, creative substitute teacher to join our Lower School team and support the first-grade as an assistant teacher for a classroom of approximately 20 students. In response to COVID-19 limitations and precautions, the current platform for teaching is through Distance Learning with the potential for transitioning to on campus learning as soon as Alameda County guidelines indicate it is safe to do so. With direct support and collaboration with the lead teacher, this individual will be expected to teach language arts, social studies, science, and math. In addition, support with teaching SEL curriculums: Responsive Classroom and Toolbox will be provided.
Beyond the classroom, teachers are expected to take on duties that include recess and dismissal supervision and participate in the life of the community. The School seeks applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in multicultural education, an understanding of adolescents, and a demonstrated genuine fondness for working with students at this specific age level.
