WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time, Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions 
Prepares and interprets management information and other financial reports. Analyzes trends and possible consequences. Analyzes financial documents, statistical data, historical data and presents and interprets for management. Participates in the establishment and maintenance of cost accounting systems. Responsible for post award accounting and administration for externally funded research projects. Reconcile and prepare payroll distributions based on grant requirements. Reviews and reconciles University management reports and maintains a record of PI approvals as verified by the EOR (Evidence of Review) system. Audits accounting systems, reconciles ledger and payroll data, and resolves technical problems or recommends solutions when appropriate. Recommends and implements improvements that affect accounting systems and departmental operations. Prepares, monitors, and provides reports for departmental budgets. Prepares grant budgets and provides assistance with grant proposals. Researches and prepares necessary revenue, expense, payroll, journal entries, and other accounting procurements and/or corrections. Independently determine the type and nature of analysis to be used to obtain the desired information or results, including data to be collected, analysis methods, presentation, format, and report structure. All accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP, and NIH, State, Private, Foundation, and University policies (dependent upon the policies surrounding specified funding sources). Able to organize and prioritize multiple projects, determining the best course of action or appropriate resources needed to complete a project or address a problem, obtaining valid data and creating clear and understandable reports that reflect the data being sought. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equivalency; plus two years of related experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required.
An advanced degree, such as a Master’s of Business Administration, is preferred. Certain positions may require familiarity with hospital billing systems, Medicare and insurance reimbursement regulations, etc.
