University Prep is seeking a talented, engaging, and compassionate Diversity & Community Program Manager to help us advance our vision of being an inclusive community of learners that provides an outstanding education for each individual in a diverse student population. Job Summary: 
Under minimal supervision, the Diversity & Community Program Manager supports the Director of Diversity & Community by coordinating the multiple activities of the Diversity and Community office, as well as planning and facilitate events and programs in the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which includes but is not limited to: 

Specific Responsibilities:

Programs
  • Student Programming:
  • Oversees and maintains the effectiveness of middle and upper school Affinity Groups and Community and Culture Clubs
  • Develops, plans, and coordinates the success of these student programs: Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), Student Diversity Leadership Retreat (SLDR), D&C Retreat, DEI-SEL, Monthly Cultural Recognition and Celebration, MLK Day, and others as they develop
  • Chaperones students during overnight and day programs
  • Works with the Director of Diversity and Community to plan and execute Culture Night and Social Justice Day 

Service:
  • Works with the Director of Diversity and Community to build, strengthen, and develop the service program at UPrep to become a more comprehensive program that involves the entire school community
  • Plans and coordinates divisional-school service days
  • Markets, plans, and coordinates community-wide volunteer service days
  • Tracks, monitors, and problem-solves student service hour input into MobileServ or other service-management tracking system
  • Maintains and grows community service and service-learning partners

Liaisons
Rainier Scholars:
  • Serves as a liaison to Rainier Scholars Program
  • Coordinates outreach on and off campus to the scholars and their families
  • Plans and coordinates the Rainier Scholars UPrep Reception, orientation, and celebration
Parent Council:
  • Acts as liaison to Parent Council Executives
  • Develops ways to encourage families of color and other underrepresented groups to participate in social aspects of our school community
  • Interpreters/Translators
  • Identifies and works with families whose home language is not English or who might have other language-based needs
  • Arranges translation services for school events.

Budgets
  • Manages budget for Student Diversity and Leadership Conference (SDLC)/People of Color Conference (POCC)

General Responsibilities
  • Serves as an advisor to 10-12 middle school students
  • Serves on the middle school student service teams
  • Serves on teams and committees, as assigned
  • Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining open dialogue with all of the school’s constituencies
  • Actively participates in the full life of the school
  • Vigorously engages in their own professional development
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
  • Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • 3+ years’ experience in school environment
  • Experience and interest in working with both middle and upper School students and families
  • Experience developing DEI programs
  • Proficiency in more than one language preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple constituents
  • Ability and desire to be collaborative and flexible with a genuine enthusiasm for working with students and adults on and off campus
  • Experience in areas of social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, preferred
  • A genuine joy, enthusiasm, and passion for students and for education
  • Ability to balance independent work and self-management
  • Ability to confidently and creatively problem solve
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Skills in project and budget management
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and other data base programs
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Flexibility, maturity, and a sense of humor
  • Proficient at working in a Microsoft Windows environment (Windows 7 or higher), using Office (version 2010 or higher), including Outlook; ability to master common automated systems for record keeping, and confidently learn new technology; Experience with school-focused technology is a plus
  • Ability to talk on the phone
  • Ability to sit and keyboard up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to attend overnights
  • Some travel required, local and national
