Performs a variety of writing, design, public relations, event, and comprehensive project management tasks while using sound judgment. Strong interpersonal skills required to plan and execute outreach and communications.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8:00AM -5:00PM Monday through Friday

Create and support strategic communications to increase awareness of the School of Dentistry’s mission to provide comprehensive oral health care to the underserved communities of Utah. Assist with the design and execution of key communication tools to increase access and awareness of this mission, especially with social service agencies, governmental partners, community care providers and partners, as well as with donors/alumni, staff, and students.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Dean’s office, School of Dentistry departments and clinics, U of U Health Marketing, Central Campus Marketing, and the University and Health Offices of Advancement.
Develop and communicate department information on various projects to its stakeholders, both internal and external.
Balance conflicting interests and work well in an environment of competing priorities.
Be a self-starter and experienced professional who can work under minimal supervision, but who is accountable to results.
Find/track and communicate successful patient and student experiences to different audiences.
Create communication materials, scripts, and presentations to community stakeholders on behalf of the Dean’s office.
Manage and provide oversight of all social media channels, digital marketing and website content.
Provide oversight to maintain brand standards, tone, and image in all School of Dentistry material.
This role will also:
Serve as a point of contact for media, including development of pitching stories
Coordinate with and manage third party vendor relationships
Monitor effectiveness of communication tactics and adjust communication plans as necessary
Proofread all communications and monitor media
Manage the research and development of content for publication
Develop and adhere to project timelines
Ensure that distributed material is accurate and timely
Help support SOD alumni and advancement events as needed
Be asked to perform other related duties as assigned
Role will report to Associate Director of Marketing & Communications

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency; excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.
Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.

Experienced writer and communicator
Experience managing outreach with community partners
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Experience creating and maintaining social media platforms and websites in a professional setting as well as CMS experience
Experience with EMMA, Constant Contact or other communications platforms a plus
Experience with Google Analytics
