DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, Media Lab, to head communications at the lab. Will serve as strategist, content creator, leader, and manager of the full range of Media Lab communications–both internal and external; work closely with the lab director and community on conceptualizing, writing, and disseminating messaging; oversee strong identity and branding; work with the press liaison to develop press releases, collaborate with the MIT News Office, and review releases from sponsors and collaborating organizations; work closely with development and member relations staff on producing materials to use with prospective and existing sponsors; develop talking points and draft speeches, presentations, and content for the lab director; work with the lab designer to art direct photographers, videographers, and graphic designers on a wide range of communication materials; oversee lab contributions to Institute-wide initiatives and publications; and serve as the primary communications liaison.

REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree in a related field; at least seven years’ experience heading a communications team; experience developing strategies for effectively messaging organizational priorities and accomplishments to potential donors, societal influencers, and top-tier media outlets; excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills; demonstrated experience leading and managing diverse, inclusive teams; good judgment; familiarity with a wide range of media channels that are appropriate for disseminating lab news; and familiarity with copyright law and best practices.
