Job Purpose

The Gas Control Analyst maintains and tracks all necessary compliance records to meet PHMSA Control Room Management regulations. This position serves as a subject matter expert for all compliance and analytical needs of the Control Center, continuously improving internal processes. The analyst maintains existing policies as well as helps to develop new policies along with analytical processes that can serve to improve the operational efficiency and safety of National Grid’s gas transmission and distribution systems. The position also works in collaboration with the Training Analysts to deliver the continued education and development of Gas System Operators.

Key Accountabilities

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Develop, design, and maintain all Gas Control Center polices and processes.
  • Maintain auditable compliance files and data, including all Control Room Management requirements.
  • Generate, implement, and maintain regulatory compliance reports, workflows, and analysis functions such as Alarm Management, Fatigue Management, MAOP compliance, and other functions.
  • Support all Gas Control needs during audits and information requests from State and Federal Regulators.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within Gas Control.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical, Business, Engineering, or 5-plus years of Gas Control/Gas Operations experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and research skills.
  • Knowledge of compliance, training, and development learning principles.
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Team leadership skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Strong PC and business applications knowledge to facilitate full leveraging of technology solutions in the Control Center work environment.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, Company policies and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of gas transmission systems, distribution systems, and power generation.
  • Strong knowledge of gas SCADA system.
  • Gas Control Operator/Gas Operations experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
