Research!America is seeking a Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy to join our team. There has never been a more important time to be an advocate for science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all!
The Senior Director is responsible for keeping apprised of funding and policy issues as well as issues bearing on private sector research and development that are relevant to the alliance’s mission. The Senior Director will utilize this knowledge to help shape advocacy, policy, public education and programmatic activities that reflect those issue and provide value to Research!America’s members. As a policy expert, the Senior Director will fulfill public speaking roles and assist with media relations. The Senior Director serves as a liaison with Congress, the Executive Branch, key coalitions and assists with stewardship of key stakeholders and cultivation of prospective new members and donors. The Senior Director will manage and coach assigned staff to achieve optimal performance and provide oversight to the organization’s science policy fellowship and internship programs.
This position requires 7 – 10 years of relevant experience in public policy, government relations, advocacy or in the congressional or executive branch with management experience, with private sector research and development policy and advocacy experience strongly preferred.
