Job Description
Responsible for the coordination of construction management facilities projects to support the operations of Dallas County and coordinates with internal and external staff, contractors and consultants (architects, engineers, designers, contractors) in support of the construction management functions.
Management Scope: May supervise associated Dallas County maintenance staff related to the facilities maintenance/construction project.
1. Coordinates construction management facilities projects to support the operations of Dallas County.
2. Coordinates with internal and external staff, contractors, and consultants (architects, engineers, designers, contractors) in support of the construction management functions.
3. Provides various reports and updates to executive staff (Commissioners Court Administration, Office of Budget and Evaluation, etc.) and external entities (related work groups and agencies, Texas Commission on Jail Standards, Department of Justice, etc.) as need related to maintenance/construction project(s).
4. May assist with establishment of the scope of projects, development of milestone schedules and cost estimates and determination of the need for outside professional skills.
5. May assist in interviewing outside consultants, contractors; assist with bid(s); negotiate and prepare contracts and assist with the execution of these contracts.
6. May assist in reviewing and approving the planning, scheduling, design and construction, purchase and installation of furniture and installation of telecommunications, and data equipment, and manage activity of Dallas County staff or coordinate with external staff in these activities.
7. Stays abreast of current technology, available products, service materials, methods, opportunities, trends and problems.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Architecture or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of work related experience required in maintenance management, including one (1) year supervisory experience.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record, and pass a security clearance check. Demonstrate effective organizational and leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Demonstrate ability to effectively use a personal computer.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Requires the ability to climb ladders and lift weights in excess of 50 lbs., assisted. Ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely. Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, and lifting. Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings and weather conditions.
