Interviews, educates and counsels patients with communicable diseases, assists staff with field visits and conducts follow-ups to ensure that timely and appropriate medical care is received.Responsibilities
1. Interviews, educates and counsels patients regarding infectious diseases and control.
2. Assists Communicable Disease staff by identifying, locating and notifying patients to ensure proper medical care is received, and conducts follow-up field visits.
3. Draws blood for communicable disease and other infectious disease supported activities.
4. Assists Epidemiology staff and Communicable Disease staff in outbreak investigations.
5. Conducts seminars with physicians and clinics regarding infectious diseases.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study. One (1) year of work related experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record. Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
Must possess reliable transportation.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Ability to travel extensively to make home visits.
