This is a 1.0 FTE at Wakefield High School.
All Teachers/Instructional Staff hired after January 15th are considered term employees. This position is a term position that is effective for FY26 through June 18, 2026 only. You would need to re-apply for a position for FY27.
Qualifications:
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Ability and willingness to work as a team member with general education staff. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of computers and variety of software used in athletic training services program (ie. IMPACT, SIMS, etc.) Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Experience teaching high school students.
Responsibilities:
- Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses. Evaluation of athletic injuries. Treatment of athletic injuries. Providing counseling and education to student athletes. Works under the direct supervision of the athletic trainer and general supervision of the Director of Student Activities. Athletic training administrative duties. Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions. Recordkeeping and documentation of injuries, treatments and provide insurance claim forms for sports injuries treated by a physician. Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver athletic training services to student athletes acting as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents.
Salary:
- Salary will be based on the FY 2025-26 salary schedule.
