Role Overview

The 6-8 Science Teacher is responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes. The teacher will plan and implement instructional methods, evaluate pupil progress, and maintain accurate records. The teacher will also participate in programs to improve student attendance and promote anti-vandalism programs.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the 6-8 Science Teacher include providing written lesson plans, establishing positive learning expectations, and evaluating pupil progress. The teacher will also implement instructional methods, participate in in-service meetings, and communicate with parents and guardians.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of all student teaching requirements
  • Appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS)
  • Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements
  • Knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching
  • Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs
