Job Description
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Level 1 to serve as an Accountable Manager (AM) for various projects involving City owned infrastructure at the Ashokan Reservoir. The selected candidate will manage BEDC design and construction contracts for the WSCP program, ensuring projects are managed in accordance with all BEDC Standard Operating Procedures and best practices. The candidate will review business cases, prepare RFPs, and negotiate contracts with consultants. They will also be responsible for verifying project scope, cost, and schedule information and coordinating with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Project Management of large capital contracts
  • Critical thinking and effective independent data analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of codes and standards
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel) and Microsoft Project
  • Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license may be required for this job assignment
  • Four years of full-time, satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work
  • A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License
