Role OverviewThe Accountant will perform fiscal monitoring, develop and maintain accounting and financial reports, and assist with fiscal year-end closing activities. The role requires knowledge of accounting and budget processes, internal controls, and bookkeeping procedures. The Accountant will work independently and as part of a team to prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and perform other related duties.
What You Will Do
The Accountant will record cash deposits, perform bank transfers, and journal entries for miscellaneous receipts. They will also prepare and update basis schedules, prepare journal entries, and research requirements to maintain compliance. Additionally, the Accountant will coordinate the City's asset disposal process, perform monthly bank reconciliations, and prepare and reconcile hotel monthly entries and schedules.

The ideal candidate will have three years of experience in financial analysis and preparing financial statements. They will possess a valid State of Georgia Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). The Accountant will have strong computer skills, including experience in creating complex spreadsheets, word processing, and Internet applications.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of formal training and experience in financial analysis and preparing financial statements
- Valid State of Georgia Driver's License
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Knowledge of accounting and budget processes, internal controls, bookkeeping procedures, and automated accounting systems
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and theory, practice, and standards established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
- Strong computer skills, including experience in creating complex spreadsheets, word processing, and Internet applications
