Role Overview

The Activity Specialist will design and lead engaging activities in their assigned specialty area (Basketball, Martial Arts/Boxing, Volleyball, or Dance) for the COMPASS Elementary Summer Camp Program. The program provides a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for youth to explore STEM, arts, sports, leadership, and social-emotional learning. The Activity Specialist will support the academic, social, and emotional development of youth while working collaboratively as part of a team.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include designing and implementing structured lesson plans, developing skill-based curriculum, facilitating activities, supporting program operations, and maintaining a safe and structured environment. The Activity Specialist will also collaborate with Youth Educators, address behavioral concerns, and participate in required trainings and staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Training, certification, or demonstrated expertise in Basketball, Martial Arts/Boxing, Volleyball, or Dance
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in structured program settings
  • Strong group management, conflict resolution, and behavior management skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, skill-based physical activity instruction
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of youth development and safe physical activity practices
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and lead youth in structured group activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Familiarity with basic program operations and youth safety standards
  • Knowledge of classroom/group management techniques
  • Basic proficiency with technology platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, and Google Meet

Benefits

  • Paid hourly rate of $20.00-$22.00
