Job Description
The Advanced Pharmacy Technician role at UT Southwestern Medical Center involves performing advanced pharmacy technician duties under supervision, including IV drug preparation, patient return documentation, drug delivery, and billing. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 4 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, and 2 years in the area of advanced pharmacy technician concentration. The role involves working independently and effectively with minimal supervision, and performing tasks such as auditing and signing out controlled substances, and identifying and correcting discrepancies. The position is responsible for 80% of staffed hours in one or a combination of the advanced pharmacy technician concentration areas, which may include Controlled Substance, Operating Room, Buyer, Procurement, & Technology Optimization, Sterile & Hazardous Compounding, and Investigational Drug Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years of experience as a pharmacy technician
  • 2 years in area of advanced pharmacy technician concentration
  • TSBP REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Registered Technician Upon Hire
  • PHARM INT) PHARMACY INTERN Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Pharmacist intern Upon Hire
  • STERILE COMPOUNDING (IV) CERT Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE required in Sterile & Hazardous Compounding and Investigational Drug Services only Upon Hire
  • BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required Upon Hire
  • PTCB) CERT COMPND STERILE PREP TECHN National certification
