Role Overview

Join UT Southwestern's Pediatric Critical Care/Cardiology division at Children's Hospital in Dallas as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant III in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. This role requires a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise in the cardiac intensive care unit.

What You Will Do

Diagnose and treat critically ill patients, develop and manage treatment plans, and perform advanced procedures. Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations, synthesize data to develop and evaluate patient care plans, and order and interpret diagnostic studies. Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing or higher degree and documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program and graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population
  • Master's degree graduate of a Master's or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Advanced Practice RN (CPNP-AC) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certified licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C) upon hire
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire
