Role OverviewLead after-school cooking and STEAM classes for elementary students (K-4), teaching provided lesson plans and encouraging kids to learn about new cuisines and cultures. Classes run in the afternoon between 2-5pm, Monday through Friday, with a maximum of 5 classes per week.
What You Will Do
Teach kids about nutrition, healthy eating, basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners, and other concepts provided in the curriculum. Purchase groceries for each class based on the recipes provided.
Why It Might Be a Fit
We're looking for enthusiastic and effective educators who can keep students engaged during class. You'll need experience working with large groups of kids, effective classroom management skills, and punctuality and reliability.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
- Ability to stand and move throughout a classroom setting
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as needed
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport program materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to travel to assigned program locations
