Job Description
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) is seeking an Agency Attorney for the Housing Litigation Division Anti-Harassment Unit (HLD-AHU) to enforce housing standards and regulations, focusing on tenant harassment and construction-related harassment. The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) leads the agency’s work in enforcing the NYC Housing Maintenance Code and NYS Multiple Dwelling Law, conducting complex litigation and negotiations, and evaluating cases for potential violations.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • 1 year of satisfactory United States legal experience (or 2 or 3 years of internship/bar service) following bar admission.
  • Knowledge of NYC Housing Maintenance Code and NYS Multiple Dwelling Law
  • Knowledge of tenant harassment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with PC software (Microsoft Excel and Word).
