Role OverviewThe selected candidate will serve as in-house counsel to the New York City Police Department, assisting members of the service in interpreting local, state, and federal laws. The candidate will represent the Department in civil matters, produce records and video footage, review and negotiate complex contracts, and assess Department policies for legal sufficiency.
What You Will Do
The candidate will manage and coordinate electronic discovery matters, coordinate and respond to subpoenas, and collaborate with NYPD attorneys and outside counsel to develop efficient eDiscovery workflows.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The candidate must have one year of satisfactory United States legal experience or six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Intern. The candidate must also remain a Member of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment.
Requirements
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar
- Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Intern (30086)
- Two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar in the areas of law related to the assignment
- Three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar in the areas of law related to the assignment
