Job Description
The Maryland Department of Agriculture is seeking a qualified Agricultural Inspector II to join their Forest Pest Management Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting surveys and inspections to protect Maryland's rural and urban forest tree resources from adverse effects of insects and diseases. The position is open to current employees of the Forest Pest Management Program only.

Requirements

  • Conduct spongy moth egg mass surveys to determine population density
  • Evaluate wooded areas to determine their status for survey based on FPM site criteria
  • Participate in general spongy moth surveys to monitor population trends
  • Assist in pest suppression activities, including preparing suppression notebooks and attending public informational meetings
  • Work with regional entomologist and higher-level agricultural inspectors to determine location and extent of insect damage to wooded areas
