Job Description
The Maryland Department of Agriculture is seeking an Agricultural Laboratory Scientist III to support the agency's mission to prevent and control infectious diseases of livestock and poultry. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory diagnostic testing, review and update procedure manuals, and participate in the laboratory accreditation process.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in laboratory analysis work in a biological, chemical, food, commercial, animal health, medical or public health laboratory
  • Two years of experience performing veterinary analytical, diagnostic, and epidemiological laboratory testing work
  • Experience with performing real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and other diagnostic testing platforms
  • Experience with laboratory equipment management and maintenance
  • ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation or other similar laboratory accreditation
  • Experience serving as a leader in laboratory processes
  • Bachelor's degree in the biological or chemical sciences from an accredited college or university
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in the chemical or biological sciences from an accredited college or university
