Role OverviewHatch is a small, ambitious team building AI that transforms how service businesses grow. As an AI Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of classic product engineering and AI, building the underlying systems that let our AI agents reason, act, and improve. Your work has a direct, measurable line to customer revenue.
What You Will Do
Design, build, and own the systems that power our Voice AI and Text AI agents, handling voice calls, SMS, and email conversations end-to-end across every customer touchpoint. Develop tool-calling integrations, build LLM-as-a-judge evaluations, and create AI observability.

Requirements
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production
- Solid backend experience in Elixir, Go, Python, or a comparable server-side language
- Comfort working across the stack, from data model and LLM/agent logic to APIs and UI
- A track record of leading projects from spec to launch alongside multiple contributors
- Deep sense of ownership and bias for action
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
