Role Overview

The Aircraft Ordnance Technician performs a variety of duties and tasks such as inspecting ammunition, testing aircraft systems, performing preventive maintenance and effecting repairs, loading and fusing ammunition and arming/de-arming aircraft.

What You Will Do

Performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on ordnance, ordnance related equipment and armament systems. Maintains and repairs aircraft armament weapons systems, fire warning/extinguishing system, repair/troubleshooting, aircraft armament systems, and be familiar with OPNAVINST 8023.24.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair
  • Four years actual and recent experience in the type of aircraft being serviced
  • Must meet the criteria to be qualified and certified as per OPNAVINST 8023
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance
  • Must meet the medical requirements for Explosive handlers and Explosive vehicle Operators contained in NAVMED P-117
