Job Description
The Alternate Assessment Specialist coordinates and oversees the development and administration of Ohio's alternate academic and English language proficiency assessments for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The specialist develops and presents resources for administration, communicates assessment policies, and oversees contracts to ensure timely delivery of statewide assessments and materials. They also provide technical assistance, interpret testing policies, and ensure contractors adhere to established timelines and contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Six years' experience in an educational setting (e.g., K-12, higher education)
  • Experience in contract oversight, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with contractual specifications and program requirements
  • Interpreting statute and code, law (e.g., operating standards, Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, state/federal requirements and guidelines)
  • Experience in measurement/psychometrics, educational policy development, assessment/evaluation, or a related field in a government and/or educational setting
