Role OverviewJoin our Animal Care team as an intern and contribute to the conservation of desert species through preservation, education, and appreciation. The successful candidate will rotate through all four areas of animal care and complete a project focused on enriched experiences for a species of their choice.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include interacting with guests, being knowledgeable and sharing The Living Desert's conservation messages, story, and mission. You will also have the opportunity to work with potentially dangerous animals and participate in a project focused on animal enrichment.
Why It Might Be a Fit
This internship is ideal for those who are enthusiastic about animal care and public interactions. A strong background in STEM education is preferred, and experience with animal care and public interactions is a plus.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have received high school diploma or equivalent and be enrolled in college or recent graduate (2 years); STEM education preferred
- Covid vaccination and up-to-date boosters are required
- Negative tuberculosis test prior to start date is required
- Background check
- Valid California driver license
