Role Overview

The Assistant Principal will assist the school principal in directing and coordinating educational, administrative, supervisory, and counseling activities at the school. They will perform related duties as required, including assisting in the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan, participating in the development and monitoring of the local school budget, and providing individual and group guidance to students.

What You Will Do

The Assistant Principal will perform duties such as taking disciplinary action for students or employees, meeting with parents and guardians to review student progress, supervising students at assemblies and events, and observing teachers' performance and providing recommendations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • valid Type 75 Educational Administrative Certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education
  • thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of elementary and secondary education
  • good knowledge of school budgeting methods and procedures
  • ability to work with and for school-aged children
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers and career service staff, parents and guardians, volunteers, local school council members, and community organizations
