Application Systems Programmer II

This position resides within the Office of Agriculture Technology Services and reports to the Information Technology Business Consultant Manager - SES. The role is responsible for the design, development, administration, and support of enterprise applications, cloud platforms, collaboration systems, and automation tools used throughout the Department.

The incumbent collaborates with program areas, business stakeholders, and technical teams to implement solutions that improve workflows, enhance data access, automate processes, and strengthen the Department’s digital capability. The position requires strong technical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to lead or support complex technological initiatives across the agency.

Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Seven (7) years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, two (2) years of which must have been in systems programming
• Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry)
• Five (5) years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, two (2) years of which must have been in systems programming and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems
• Bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, two (2) years of which must have been in systems programming
• Bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and three (3) years of experience in computer systems analysis, and/or computer programming, two (2) years of which must have been in systems programming
• Master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and two (2) years of experience in systems programming
• Doctorate (8 years) from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and one (1) year of experience in systems programming
