Job Description
The Archeologist conducts studies and prepares documentation to identify and evaluate potential impacts to prehistoric and historic cultural resources in and near Department project sites. Conducts preliminary project and historic structure surveys, analyzes and curates archeological and structural resources materials, and provides on-site archeological project monitoring.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in archeology, anthropology, or closely related field
  • Working knowledge of Arkansas archeology and history, Section 106 law, NAGPRA, and other pertinent state and federal regulations
  • Experience using GPS
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to withstand archeological fieldwork in year-around weather conditions
