Role OverviewThe Area Engineer will oversee day-to-day construction and maintenance operations in the Waco Area Office, working with TxDOT planning and design staff, local governments, and Metropolitan Planning Organizations to set long-term priorities for transportation systems in the greater Waco area. The role involves leading a team, working on projects that improve the lives of central Texas residents, and being a daily voice for Texas internal and external Safety Missions.
What You Will Do
The Area Engineer will oversee construction operations, inspect projects, and monitor maintenance activities, including planning and budgeting, right-of-way plan preparation, and material testing. They will also approve project candidate submissions, coordinate transportation planning activities, and direct administrative and business operation activities.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
- 5 years transportation engineering experience (or related graduate level education substituted for experience on a year per year basis).
- 1 year supervisory/managerial experience (or project leader or lead worker experience substituted for supervisory/managerial experience).
- Valid driver's license.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas (or obtain a P.E. license within 6 months of hire).
