Role OverviewThe Area Trainer will oversee Handlers to ensure cargo screenings are done in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. They will provide supervision and training to assigned Handlers and canines, perform canine training, audits, and administrative deliverables, and participate in CCSP related training. The Area Trainer will also maintain training records, care for assigned certified canines, and develop and follow established training protocols.
What You Will Do
The Area Trainer will conduct OJT and instruction of new Handlers and Trainers, maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances, and inventory explosive training aids. They will also travel up to 70% to contract locations Nationwide, work in a busy training environment, and conduct fieldwork in various weather conditions.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience training canines and teams in explosive detection, three years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment, and prior supervisory experience. They will also be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment and have a valid Driver's License with a clear driving record for the last three years.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Minimum of five years of experience training canines and teams in explosive detection
- Three years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment
- Prior supervisory experience
- Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment
- Valid Driver's License with a clear driving record for the last three years
- Ability to pass the applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to six weeks of employment
