Role OverviewThe Arkansas Highway Police Patrol Officer is responsible for enforcing state laws regulating the use of public highways, with a special emphasis on commercial vehicles and private non-passenger transportation vehicles.
What You Will Do
Examples of work include enforcing laws related to axle and gross weights, conducting traffic and criminal enforcement, collecting revenues, exercising full law enforcement authority, and performing additional tasks such as assisting with disabled vehicles and directing traffic.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish a domicile in either Benton or Washington County, and will be able to lift 100 pounds, bend, stoop, and climb in and out of vehicles, and pursue, subdue, and restrain suspects.
Requirements
- Education and experience: The educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school
- Physical requirements: Skill at firing a weapon proficiently and consistently as required by department standards
- Current certification by the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training or the ability to acquire certification within nine months of initial employment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to successfully complete required North American Standard Level I Inspection Procedure Parts A and B courses
