Role Overview

The NYC DOT Permit Management and Construction Control (PMCC) unit seeks an experienced candidate to serve as Assistant Commissioner. The A/C directly supervises approximately 60 employees and oversees the review of NYC DOT-issued construction projects to ensure appropriate traffic accommodation and traffic flow stipulations are included.

What You Will Do

The Assistant Commissioner will oversee the review of federal and state assisted arterial projects, work with Legal on proposed changes in the Highway Rules and other regulations and specifications, and issue construction embargoes to ensure construction activities are performed with minimal disruption to the public.

The candidate will work closely with various city agencies, NYSDOT, the MTA, the PANYNJ and various stockholders, and interfaces with Federal, State & City agencies, utility companies, construction developers and the affected communities regarding the scope and impact of planned projects.

Requirements

  • Valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer
  • Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work
  • At least two (2) years of experience in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity
