Role OverviewThe Guardian is a global, reader-funded news organization that delivers fearless, independent journalism. The Assistant Digital and Audience Editor will help shape how Guardian US journalism is presented and discovered across platforms, working with the US digital editor, the senior audience editor, and the wider newsroom.
What You Will Do
Editing and maintaining the Guardian's US and international homepages on web and apps, ensuring Guardian style is adhered to, and using analytics tools to inform decisions over homepage content.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years' experience of editing homepages and articles, excellent writing skills and news judgment, and a proven track record of analyzing audience trends and clearly communicating insights to journalists.
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years' experience of editing homepages and articles

- Proven track record of analyzing audience trends and clearly communicating insights to journalists
- Significant experience of a live newsroom at a national or international news organization
- Strong understanding of digital tools and content management systems
- Understanding and knowledge of analytics, search and other measurements of digital audience and targets
- Strong knowledge of analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Chartbeat
- Deep understanding of digital journalism trends, internet culture and communities, as well as distribution strategies
- A firm grasp of the Guardian's brand and editorial identity and a strong understanding of the US news media landscape
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in both remote and in-person team environments, fostering collaboration across departments
