Assistant Director

The Assistant Director of the Health Insurance Payments & Receivables Division is responsible for making payments to all 11 City health plans within the Health Benefits Program, processing and reconciling Medicare Part B/IRMAA payments, and reconciling monthly banking statements. The Assistant Director oversees 4 staff members and is responsible for generating financial reports to the Executive Division, Comptroller’s Office, and OMB.

What You Will Do

The Assistant Director will be responsible for processing and payment of premiums to the City’s health insurance carriers, processing and payment of all expenditures for self-funded programs, maintaining accurate membership counts, administering an eligibility system for City vested retiree groups, and reviewing Health Insurance Carrier spending.

The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in a relevant field and one year of experience in fire, casualty, or surety insurance as a corporate insurance manager, insurance agent, insurance underwriter, or insurance broker. Requirements

• baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
• one year of full-time paid experience within the last six years in fire, casualty, or surety insurance as a corporate insurance manager, insurance agent, insurance underwriter, or insurance broker
• high school graduation or evidence of having passed an examination for the high school equivalency diploma or the U.S. Armed Forces G.E.D. certificate with a score of at least 35 on each of the five tests and an overall score of at least 225 in the examination for the certificate
• five years of satisfactory experience within the last six years as described in (a) above
