Role Overview

The Assistant Director of Education will work collaboratively with the Director of Education to oversee the provision of all educational services provided throughout all education programs. This includes leadership, administration, and supervision of staff, overseeing daily operational functions, fiscal accountability, and developing goals and objectives in accordance with the agency’s mission.

What You Will Do

The Assistant Director will schedule regular program site visits, serve as back up Building Administrator, and align all sites with the organization’s educational mission, strategic plan, and policies. They will also assist with the creation of new education services or the expansion of existing services.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Education with New York State Certification in Educational Administration as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA), and a minimum of three years’ experience as School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA).

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education with New York State Certification in Educational Administration as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA)
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA)
  • Teaching experience in a Special Education environment, preferably with the integration of students with disabilities into the community
  • Demonstrated knowledge of State Education Department rules and regulations, New York State Education Law, the commissioner’s Part 200 Regulations, and special education law
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and experience in clinical supervision of professional and nonprofessional staff
  • Familiarity with community resources to assist in the integration of students with disabilities into the community
  • Ability to interrelate with non-agency personnel in various matters concerning the school
  • Strong public speaking skills desirable

Benefits

  • Salary range: $115,000.00 - $120,000.00
  • Full-time position, 40 hours a week at 52 weeks a year, following an agency calendar
