Role Overview

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing the resort's engineering operations, building systems, facilities, equipment, grounds, and preventative maintenance programs. This role helps ensure the safety, appearance, reliability, and long-term integrity of Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino.

What You Will Do

The Assistant Director provides visible, hands-on leadership to the Engineering team and partners closely with hotel leadership, operational departments, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This position balances daily operational needs with preventative maintenance, project coordination, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, and colleague development.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of progressive experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, building maintenance, or a related field
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a hotel, resort, commercial facility, or similar environment
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, life-safety systems, and preventative maintenance
  • Experience coordinating repairs, vendors, contractors, inspections, and maintenance projects
  • Understanding of workplace safety, building codes, regulatory compliance, and emergency response procedures
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple operational needs in a fast-paced resort environment
  • Experience with maintenance management systems, work-order platforms, and standard business software
  • Applicable trade licenses, technical certifications, or formal education in engineering, facilities management, or a related field
  • Valid driver's license
