Role Overview

The Assistant District Attorney will be given significant responsibility early in their career and receive extensive courtroom experience from the outset. They will handle serious and complex cases and develop litigation skills quickly through regular court appearances, hearings, motion practice, evidentiary proceedings, and trials under the guidance of experienced supervisors.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Assistant District Attorney will include handling misdemeanor and felony cases, gaining extensive courtroom experience, and developing advanced trial skills. They will also be required to perform evening, night, weekend, and holiday assignments and may be required to respond on a 24-hour basis to crime scenes, police precincts, and booking facilities.

Requirements

  • Admitted to the New York State Bar
  • 3 years of initial service to the Office
  • Ability to work evening, night, weekend, and holiday assignments
