Job Description
The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to assist the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel as legal advisor to the Department and perform assigned legal work on behalf of the General Counsel’s Office.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar
  • Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086)
  • Ability to draft contract documents and MOUs
  • Ability to comment on legislation and policy initiatives
  • Ability to assist with agency compliance with various federal, state, and local laws and reporting requirements
  • Ability to draft standard operating procedures, policies, and communicate them to DYCD management, staff, and contractors
  • Ability to perform legal research and make recommendations to the agency’s General Counsel, executive, and program staff on questions of law, fact, and administrative policy
