Role Overview

Responsible for assisting the Machine Operator in safely operating production machines, including setup, operation, and cleanup. The role involves improving set up times, reducing downtime, and identifying mechanical concerns. The Assistant Operator will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to production schedules, and making recommendations for optimizing production.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities include working safely at all times, following Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), and learning and complying with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies. The Assistant Operator will also be responsible for assisting the Machine Operator in maximizing equipment utilization, identifying and addressing mechanical concerns, and reporting to Production Supervisor or Production Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior work experience in the packaging industry (preferably in paper, plastics, or converting)
  • 6 months' experience in some type of manufacturing operation
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, quality, safety, and job packets
  • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate
  • Ability to apply concepts of high school math
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations
